-30-

While AMC richly deserved being omitted in the writing and best drama categories, I do feel bad for Alicia Minshew and Thorsten Kaye who did quality work with terrible storylines and were still very watchable. That and they act with Cameron Mathison and don't break out hysterical laughing ever. Michael E. Knight is always entertaining as well so I'm sorry they didn't throw him a lifeline a prize.

Anybody's fave get snubbed or did they completely earn that nomination?

Take Care

I can't BELIEVE Robot!John didn't get recognized for his outstanding work this year. I mean he like totally died and then came back from the dead and is like totally a whole new character, with like no facial expression at all! I mean you can see how hard he tries not to squinch and raise his eyebrows! (Seriously, you can actually see his muscles start to move sometimes and then he makes himself stop. Hee.)

I'm actually fairly shocked at all the DOOL nominations, with the exception of Rachel Melvoin.

I am sort of embarrassed to admit that I love Robo-John. It might make it better that I add the word "hu-man" after all of his lines. Plus, he called Belle "Dink" and that alone was worth the whole dead/not dead shenanigans.

Did you see the one where he met the doctor who declared him dead and he gave him the Robo-John Glare n' Sneer (TM) and the doc was like, "I dunno, you were dead, man. I GOT NOTHING!" That was awesome.

On the topic of the actual nominations, SERIOUSLY? I got nothing against Thaao Penghlis and Judi Evans, but really not who I would have considered there. The dude who plays Max, um. NOT EVEN. At least Rachel Melvin did some good work this year, but I'm still annoyed at the Touch The Sky storyline.

Oh, well.

Wow, CBS blew ABC and NBC out of the water. Of course, NBC only has one show...

Amusingly, the ATWT are just right. They don't have a powerhouse male lead, like Canary or Geary or Bregman. Michael Park does great work against Maura West, but he's about 20 years younger than the other men and he just doesn't have the same "heft" as they do. Holden and Tom are sideline players, Dusty was killed off, and I hate Roger Howarth intensely.

But Maura West as Carly is amazing year after year, and Trent Dawson is the definition of outstanding supporting actor. He's been stealing scenes for so long they finally gave in and gave him a contract, a family and a love interest; he was only supposed to be on for a few days. Six years ago.

I don't agree with Kelley for Supporting because she didn't do very much this year; Martha Byrne or Teri Columbo did much more complicated, layered work and should have been in her place. Same with Gwen and Will, although they were on a lot, they just bored me. And Van Hansis, SIGH. I suppose if they're looking at last year, he earned it, but he's been phoning it in lately so it's easy to forget he was doing good stuff during the Noah/Luke buildup. My guess is in the coming years with Landon and Soffer gone, it's going to be Mick Hazen as Carly and Jack's son Parker who will be a perennial nominee in the younger actor category; the kid is AMAZING, and he's heading into the old-enough-to-date years within a year or so.

But while the acting is top-notch, it is right that they got overlooked for writing and for best show; the sum of ATWT is not nearly as good as its parts. That's it's biggest problem.
